While professing not to understand DS and SPS’s political reconciliation, Canak says that it "may be useful". The League of Vojvodina Social Democrats (LSV) leader told Radio B92 that only President and Democratic Party (DS) leader Boris Tadic could decide about that, because he was the key figure in the “For a European Serbia” coalition, and he needed to diffuse the situation in the country. DS, SPS to reconcile parties, or nation? “If the declaration on reconciliation is the price that Serbia needs to pay in order to have a European future, then it is acceptable for the LSV,” said Canak, though pointing out that he personally did not hold any great store in it, because the SPS was still to officially cut its ties to Slobodan Milosevic. "If that happened, then I would understand such a move; nonetheless, every step that helps put history into schoolbooks can, pragmatically, be beneficial to Serbia,” the LSV leader said. He denied being disappointed with the way the government had been formed and with the DS’s treatment of the LSV, as some Belgrade newspapers had claimed. "Did you notice those articles appearing before the government was finally formed? They are scandalous because they are untrue,” Canak affirmed. The LSV leader did however note that Mirko Cvetkovic did not talk much about Vojvodina while making his first address to MPs in the capacity of prime minister, even though Vojvodina was a stronghold for the DS. He said that the upcoming constitutive sessions of the Belgrade and Vojvodina local assemblies were not connected because, even without the SPS, the pro-EU parties had two-thirds of seats, which was not something not to make compromises over.
