Political analyst Baton Haxhiu says that Kosovo will "declare independence from Serbia at the beginning of 2008." He added that, as a consequence, "two entities will be formed in the province – the Serb and the Albanian." Kosovo independent, with two entities – analyst The Pristina-based analyst told Novi Sad daily Dnevnik on Wednesday it is to be expected that "right after a proclamation of independence, the northern part of Kosovo will declare something as well,” immediately followed by the return of the Serbian Army and police to that area. “French KFOR troops stationed there would thus act as a buffer tasked with preventing conflicts that might occur. It means we will again have an unstable situation set to last indefinitely,” argued Haxhiu. According to him, Kosovo will get independence, but it will not be in control of its northern part. “Neither will Belgrade for that matter, as the area will remain under direct protectorate of the international community for many years to come.” “In the meantime, the cantonization of Kosovo will likely take place. The creation of the Serb and Albanian entities is a very probable epilogue,” Haxhiu said. In his word, Serbia did not lose Kosovo because of the Albanians, rather due to the policy of Slobodan Milosevic who "literally gave Kosovo away." “Had it not been for Milosevic, the international community would have never agreed to consider granting independence to the province." "This way, Milosevic in effect bestowed statehood on Kosovo. I will go as far as to say that he is the one who won Kosovo its independence,” Haxhiu told the newspaper.
