Agim Ceku’s statement about declaring independence after December 10 is an "empty promise to the ethnic Albanians", a minister says. “In this case Kosovo Prime Minister Agim Ceku displays either adventurism or political brinkmanship, or he may be counting on somebody’s support,” Minister for Kosovo Slobodan Samardzic (DSS) told Beta news agency on Friday. "Ceku makes empty promises" “Such announcements are depreciating efforts the international community is putting in finding a compromise solution to the Kosovo problem,” he added. Samardzic stressed that Serbia expects the international community, including the Contact Group Troika, to respond to the Kosovo prime minister’s words. “What Ceku said is not meant to challenge us, as Serbia is used to such statements from the Kosovo Albanian political leaders, rather it is there to challenge the international community, the Contact Group and its three mediators,” Samardzic said.
