Croatian officials attend pro-Ustaša concert
The statement also said that a large number of people there were wearing Ustaša uniforms and symbols, stressing that “the worst thing in the whole lot was that some Croatian lawmakers and even the minister of science, education and sport were in the crowd.”As many as 60,000 people attended Marko "Tompson" Perković’s concert in Zagreb yesterday.
Zuroff sent a letter to Croatian President Stjepan Mesić in which he noted that a minister in the Croatian government and several other prominent persons from the political establishment attended the event, urging Mesić to “ban performances, such as that of Tompson, that glorify fascism and Nazism.”
“I believe it is high time to ban public concerts of those who write nostalgic songs inspired by the Jasenovac concentration camp, and encourage displays of Ustaša symbols, which constitutes an open and strong threat to ethnic minorities in Croatia,” Zuroff concluded.
