The Commission Investigating of Murders of Journalists supported the authorities bringing to justice the masterminds and perpetrators of the Curuvija murder.

Greater efficiency urged in Curuvija murder trial
"Technical limitations cannot be an acceptable excuse for the slowness of the process, especially since justice for Slavko has been unattainable for more than a decade," a statement said."We recall that the killer of Slavko Curuvija, Miroslav Kurak, is still at large. National authorities in charge of bringing him to justice must know that their work is not done by issuing an arrest warrant for him. The public has the right to know whether our state is waiting for him to appear on one of Europe's borders, or has a concrete plan to find out where he's hiding, and bring him in," the Commission said.
Te statement points out that the Commission works on other cases of killings of journalists on a daily basis.
"Despite the passage of time and inadequate treatment of evidence in the previous period, we hope there will soon be a judicial epilogue to at least one more case of murders of journalists."
Curuvija was assassinated in Belgrade on April 11, 1999, during the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia, in front of the building where he lived and where the marketing department of Dnevni Telegraf was located. The trial for his murder began on June 1, 2015.
The defendants are former head of the former State Security (DB) Radomir Markovic, former head of the service's Belgrade Center Milan Radonjic, former chief intelligence inspector in DB's Second Administration Ratko Romic, and this department's member in reserves Miroslav Kurak.
Romic and Radonjic have been detained since their arrest on January 13, 2014. Markovic, who been sentenced to 40 years in a separate case, is also in prison, while Kurak remains at large.
