Croatia: 13 Serb victims identified

The Serbian Government’s Missing Persons Committee has announced that remains of 13 Serbs who were killed in the 1991-1995 war in Croatia have been identified.

The Serbian Government’s Missing Persons Committee has announced that remains of 13 Serbs who were killed in the 1991-1995 war in Croatia have been identified. The victims were exhumed in the towns of Petrinja, Dvor, Vukovar, Osijek, Kukunjevci and other locations, and the identification procedure was conducted at the Department of Forensic Medicine and Criminology of the Zagreb School of Medicine. Croatia: 13 Serb victims identified All human remains have been identified by means of DNA analysis, and will be buried according to the wishes of their families whose arrival in Zagreb was organized by the Missing Persons Committee and the International Committee of the Red Cross. According to the data of the Serbian Documentation and Information Center Veritas, the list of persons who went missing in Croatia contains names of 2,126 persons of Serbian ethnicity, including 1,419 civilians, of whom 567 were women. Veritas notes that it has reliable information about 624 registered graves in the territory of Croatia and former Republika Srpska Krajina, which contain unidentified human remains of Serbs, which still have not been exhumed and identified even though the armed clashes ended 15 years ago.
