More charges filed in Oncology Institute case

Charges were filed today in Belgrade against Ivana Popovic, the head of pharmacy at the Serbian Institute of Oncology and Radiology. Serbian police (MUP) confirmed this in a statement. More charges filed in Oncology Institute case Popovic is charged with receiving bribes in connection with the distribution of medicines made by Slaviamed and Velefarm companies. She used to head a commission in charge of procuring medicines for the Serbian Institute of Oncology and Radiology, the release says. The charges were filed by the police department for fighting organized crime in cooperation with the prosecution for organized crime. Previously, the head of the institute, several other managers and pharmaceutical companies' representatives were arrested in the same corruption case, codenamed Operation Crab by police.
