B92 sources say that Milos Simovic wanted to kill Sretko Kalinic in Zagreb so that he could blame all his crimes on Kalinic. According to sources, the dispute between the two members of the Zemun Clan crime group in Zagreb started because Simovic wanted to kill Kalinic in order to transfer all the blames for crimes they committed together on Kalinic. “Simovic was to incriminate Kalinic” Now, the wounded Kalinic is offering the Croatian police complete cooperation in order to avoid being extradited to Serbia to serve a 40-year prison sentence. There are still speculations going around in both Croatia and Serbia on the motives behind the dispute between the two formerly fugitive criminals. Croatian Interior Minister Tomislav Karamarkovic told Belgrade daily Vecernje Novosti that the two of them were in a dispute because Simovic’s wife was cheating on him with Kalinic. B92 has learned from sources in Belgrade that the two had run out of money and were sick of hiding and that Simovic wanted to kill Kalinic in order to frame him for all the crimes that were committed. Zagreb daily Jutarnji List reporter Gordan Malic said that Kalinic has been talking to police in Zagreb. “He has given the Croatian investigators two statements. In the first he admitted to being involved in about 20 murders committed around the region and in some parts of Europe. He admitted to murders in Holland and Spain,” Malic said. Malic also said that Kalinic admitted to one murder in Croatia and accused Simovic of killing Cvetko Simic, who Simovic told Serbian police Kalinic had killed. “Kalinic admitted to the murder of the protected witness in the case of the Djindjic assassination, Vuk Vukojevic,” Malic also said. Regardless of what Kalinic is allegedly telling Zagreb police, this information could be hard to use by Serbian police in any case, sources say. Sretko Kalinic (archive)
