”Auto Mafia” members in custody
The Belgrade District Court Investigative Judge remanded four suspects of the so-called “Auto Mafia” to 30 days of custody.

The Belgrade District Court Investigative Judge remanded four suspects of the so-called “Auto Mafia” to 30 days of custody. The four are suspected of belonging to a crime group that specialized in stealing automobiles in Serbia. ”Auto Mafia” members in custody Special Prosecutor Miljko Radisavljevic said that the group stole cars in Serbia and sold them in Montenegro. The special prosecutor for the fight against organized crime stated that investigations are ongoing against Nikola Rovcanin, who is believed to be the group leader, Slavko Milosavljevic, Zoran Brankovic and Miroslav Ristic. The Interior Ministry stated earlier that the crime group was also involved in extortion on the territory of Serbia, asking the owners to pay in order to get their stolen cars back. The money was then split between the group members. The suspects were arrested on November 12 in a joint action of the Serbian and Montenegrin police. The two groups from Serbia and Montenegro that were working together were averaging two to three stolen cars per day over the last six months.
