The high school student in Sremska Mitrovica who attacked his teacher during class will be expelled, according to the deputy education minister. Bogoljub Lazarevic explained that there are other measures that should be taken against those who use violence in the classroom. The student first will face a disciplinary process, which will be implemented by the school principal, after which he will be expelled from the school. Education Ministry official Bojan Ristic said that in this case, other state bodies will also react to show immediately that the state will not tolerate such actions. “We expect that the delinquent that brutally beat his professor will face justice and that the prosecution in Sremska Mitrovica will initiate the proper court process against him,” State Prosecution spokesperson Tomo Zoric said. He said that the state prosecution demands that the circumstances related to the incident be confirmed along with any mistakes that were potentially made by the school administration and the local prosecution as well. The student slapped and spit at his teacher, unhappy with the grade he was given in chemistry. The attack was recorded by a fellow student on his cell phone and posted on YouTube. The student started hitting the teacher when she did not allow him to see his grade in her grade book. When the assailant then tried to snatch it from her, the teacher slapped him on the hand, after which and started hitting his victim, and spitting on her. Three students stepped in to break up the dispute, but only after the assailant had struck the teacher.

State Prosecutor Slobodan Radovanović demands an immediate reaction of the prosecution in the case, and a criminal charges to be pressed against the student.
