Kovacevic released from custody The prosecution wanted Kovacevic’s custody period extended for fear that he might abscond. The U.S. still has an Interpol warrant out for his arrest for brutally assaulting a fellow student at a New York state university. He was arrested on October 28 along with former Serbian General Consul in New York Slobodan Nenadovic, who was released from custody 16 days later. Kovacevic is being tried in Serbia both for the assault of student Bryan Steinhauer, and also for incitement to abuse of position that allowed him to flee America for Serbia.
