A group of vandals desecrated Tuesday an Orthodox cemetery in Subotica, Vojvodina, according to local police. Reports say that the vandals ripped 69 crosses from the ground and turned them upside down. I was at the cemetery yesterday and when I left at about 2 p.m., the crosses were not ripped out,” local Milena Devic said. Police said it was looking for the perpetrators, while a municipal investigative judge has deemed the act a criminal vandalism of a cemetary site. The Democratic Party in Subotica condemned the act, stating that it was "intentional". Party president and presidential candidate Boris Tadic was in town Monday attending midnight mass at a local cathedral.
