BELGRADE Whether a new arrangement will be made with the IMF will depend on talks that will start in Belgrade Wednesday, Finance and Economy Minister Mladjan Dinkic says. He added that it was important that the arrangement was beneficial to the economy. Minister: New arrangement with IMF if it is beneficial “An IMF mission will evaluate the situation in Serbia's public finances over the next two weeks and no talks about a new financial arrangement have been scheduled,” Dinkic stated. “If Serbia makes an arrangement with the IMF, even a precautionary one that does not include a loan, the country will be able to get cheaper loans,” he noted. The official talks between the government and the IMF start on Wednesday afternoon with a plenary session at the National Bank of Serbia (NBS). The talks will be based on Article 4 of the IMF Statute and Zuzana Murgasova will lead the mission, the IMF office in Belgrade said earlier. Serbia and the IMF signed their most recent arrangement in late September 2011, which was frozen in February next year because the 2012 budget exceeded the agreed fiscal deficit.
