Agricultural surplus hits USD 535mn

In the first seven months of this year, domestic agriculture saw a foreign trade surplus of USD 535mn. This is a 11.4 percent increase compared to the same period last year, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) stated on Tuesday. Agricultural surplus hits USD 535mn From January to July 2010, the export of agricultural foodstuffs reached close to USD 1.1 billion, which is a 10 percent increase from the first seven months of last year. At the same time, the import of agricultural products was around USD 558, which is a 2.8 percent increase compared to the same period in 2009. At present, the import-export coverage rate is almost 195.8 percent. Researcher at the PKS Agricultural Department Vojislav Stankovic stressed that the most significant export product was corn, which was sold for nearly USD 123mn. According to Stankovic, the "non-competing" group of products, raw coffee (USD 34.7mn), bananas (USD 19.4mn) and oranges (USD 16mn), dominate Serbian imports.

Researcher at the PKS Agricultural Department Vojislav Stanković stressed that the most significant export product was corn, which was sold for nearly USD 123mn.
According to Stanković, the "non-competing" group of products, raw coffee (USD 34.7mn), bananas (USD 19.4mn) and oranges (USD 16mn), dominate Serbian imports.
