The first transfer of the extended stand-by arrangement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has been paid into the National Bank of Serbia (NBS).

The first transfer of the extended stand-by arrangement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has been paid into the National Bank of Serbia (NBS). According to the NBS, some EUR 788mn was paid into the account. The central bank adds that Serbia will be able to withdraw two more times this year, with a limit of about EUR 2.15bn. IMF money deposited in NBS account The IMF approved the extension of the stand-by agreement on May 15, with a total amount of EUR 2.94bn, which is to be used exclusively for beefing up the NBS’s hard currency reserves and maintaining macroeconomic stability. NBS Governor Radovan Jelasic said earlier that that money could be used only for strengthening foreign currency reserves “so that everyone who comes with dinars, wanting to buy foreign currency, can receive foreign currency,” and to secure macro-financial stability in Serbia.
