The government will on Tuesday continue talks with Alpine – Porr to agree on the termination of the concession contract. The outcome of the negotiations is expected to be known in a few weeks' time, Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning Oliver Dulic said on Saturday and added that this was in the interest of both sides. Minister urges amicable end to highway deal He told a news conference on the occasion of the first 100 days of his ministry, that the government could wait until December 31, "when the contract will expire anyway", withdraw the EUR 10mn guarantee and request arbitration. "It is in the state's interest, however, to return the guarantee to the concessionaire and to try to buy the existing documents in order to ensure a speedy beginning of works on the construction of Corridor 10, because six months is necessary only to make the project design," Dulic explained. The Austrian consortium was given the concession to construct the Horgos-Pozega highway, but last month withdrew from all the elements of the deal. Their representatives and those from the Serbian government are now expected to hammer out the details in order to terminate the contract.
