The value of the Serbian IT market has increased 37 percent last year and is now at EUR 460mn. This is contained in the latest report from Mineco researchers, which adds that the domestic market is still dominated by IT equipment, with a 69 percent share, followed by services, with 20 percent, while software stands at only 11 percent. But the report shows that IT investments in Serbia grew at a faster rate than anywhere in the region, especially in the last two years. Some EUR 500mn of IT investments are planned for this year, although Mineco says the "slowing-down of economic growth and political instability" could influence this. Serbia has a stronger IT market than those found in the neighboring countries, the report further indicates, giving the domestic IT industry " a good business outlook" in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania and Macedonia. Over 368,000 desktop computers were sold in Serbia in 2007, with 70 percent of these assembled in the country. At the same time, the sales of portable computers reached the 77,000 mark – double the result from 2006.
