The total debt in Serbia based on bank loans in late February amounted to RSD 918.95bn, 6.2 pct up in 2007. This is the data released today by the Association of Banks of Serbia. Loan-based debt increases 6.2 pct At the end of February, legal entities owed RSD 576.5bn, or by 6.8 percent more than in 2007, while entrepreneurs owed RSD 35.9bn, or by 17.5 percent more. Citizens took out loans worth RSD 306.6bn – 3.9 percent up. Housing loans grew the fastest, by 8.8 percent and their value reached RSD 111.4bn, while consumer loans were at the same time reduced by 6.2 percent, to RSD 53.7bn. Cash loans peaked at RDS 133.1bn and increased by 4.4 percent since the beginning of the year.
