EPS to invest EUR 5.2bn in next five years

Serbian power corporation, EPS, says it will invest roughly EUR 5.2bn in existing and new facilities. According to the unlisted public company, the privatization options for which are considered by the government, the move will come "independently or in cooperation with strategic partners." EPS to invest EUR 5.2bn in next five years Serbia needs new electricity production capacities in order to secure its electrical energy independence in the years to come, the daily Danas writes in Thursday's edition. EPS is therefore currently realizing a series of major investments that exceed EUR 350mn, said General Director Vladimir Djordjevic. He claims that EPS is the company that directs the most funds to the Serbian economy. Djordjevic also announced environmental protection projects worth EUR 1.2bn by 2015. EPS finances all these either from its operating income or through loans. The director also reminded about the planned construction of two modern thermal power plants worth EUR 1.5bn, in association with foreign partners.
