Alternative sources of energy sought

Energy expert Zoran Mojić said that many alternative fuel sources are being used around the world, from biomass fuels and fuel made of natural waste materials. He added that Serbia is only using a small percentage of the potential alternative sources.

At yesterday’s roundtable discussions of energy issues, Mojić said that Serbia is still using electric energy the most, and that renewable energy sources are in a very distant second place. Some of the renewable sources that Serbia is using, though sparsely, are biomass, wind energy and geothermal energy.

Mojić said that the potential of using geothermal energy is available throughout all of Serbia, and that at some locations, capacities can be developed for the used of wind as an alternative source of energy.
