Breton stated that the unblocking and opening of the Strait of Hormuz, a key maritime route for the global flow of oil and gas, depends entirely on the will of the Iranian government, reports BFM TV.
“Those who hold the keys to a solution are the Iranians, whether we like it or not. The Iranians have organized themselves and are not alone. The country has entered an asymmetric war, facing the best army in the world, and has prepared for this conflict,” Breton asserted.
According to him, despite the successful rescue operation of the U.S. pilot who fell behind enemy lines, Iran remains in a strong position.
“China is supplying components, knowledge, GPS coordinates. The Pentagon is starting to worry, military reserves are dwindling. Donald Trump is under pressure, especially from American voters,” Breton noted.
The ten-day deadline set by U.S. President Donald Trump for the unblocking of the Strait of Hormuz expires tonight, but he extended the deadline by 20 hours and confirmed on his Truth Social network that the new date is Tuesday at 8 p.m. Eastern Time (ET).
“Iran is negotiating passage through Hormuz with countries such as the Philippines, U.S. allies, as well as Vietnam and Thailand. The Strait of Hormuz is not closed to everyone. Diplomatic efforts with Iran are underway. The U.S. president has threatened that hell will descend on Iran if the conflict drags on. He could order the destruction of bridges or power plants, but that would constitute crimes against humanity,” Breton emphasized, adding that it is understandable why blocked ships of Americans and their allies irritate Donald Trump.
