According to available information, the aircraft departed from Joint Base Andrews, a U.S. Air Force base near Washington, D.C., and made a stop in the Latvian capital, Riga.

An unnamed source from EU air traffic control services confirmed to TASS that the aircraft continued its journey from Riga toward the Russian border.

The aircraft departed from the Latvian capital at around 8:50 a.m. and landed at an airport in Moscow at around 10 a.m. local time, Russian state news agency RIA Novosti reported.

U.S. presidential aircraft, including Donald Trump’s, and those of other senior officials operate out of Andrews Air Force Base, the agency reported.

Peskov: I have no information about the arrival of a U.S. military aircraft in Moscow

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said today that he had no information about the arrival of a U.S. Air Force transport aircraft at Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport.

“No, I don’t have that information,” Peskov told reporters when asked whether the Kremlin could comment on the arrival of the U.S. military transport aircraft in Moscow, RIA Novosti reported.

The flight-tracking data showing the C-17’s arrival at Vnukovo were also reported by Reuters, which noted that the purpose of the flight and whether it was carrying passengers or cargo remain unclear.
