Beirut attacked: Death toll rises in new Israeli invasion VIDEO
The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health reported that at least 31 people have been killed in Israeli airstrikes on the south of the country and the capital, Beirut.
According to reports, around 20 people were killed in Beirut’s southern suburbs, while approximately 11 were killed in the south, CNN reports. The Israeli military earlier confirmed that it had targeted high-ranking Hezbollah militants in the Beirut area and the central Hezbollah commander in southern Lebanon.
Lebanese state media reported that evacuations are underway following a series of Israeli strikes in Beirut’s southern suburbs, including Dahieh, a Hezbollah stronghold.
Al Jazeera reports that hundreds of thousands of people are leaving their homes in Lebanon this morning, after the Israeli military issued evacuation orders not only in southern Lebanon but also in Beirut.
Hezbollah warned on Sunday that it would “fulfill its duty in confronting the aggression” in response to the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei.
Since then, it has been confirmed that overnight the group launched missiles and a swarm of drones at an Israeli military base south of Haifa as retaliation for the assassination.
