Iranians attack? Explosion at British base in Cyprus

According to available information, a “security threat” had previously been declared, after which a strong explosion was heard. There are currently no official reports of casualties or the extent of the damage.

It is still unknown whether the incident is connected to the ongoing events in Iran, but it occurred shortly after British Prime Minister Keir Starmer granted the United States permission to launch “defensive” strikes on Iranian missile targets from British bases.

Base personnel had been previously warned of a possible threat and were instructed to “return home and remain indoors until further notice.”

According to a report by Cyprus Mail, a “security threat” was declared at the British bases in Cyprus shortly before midnight.

Staff were advised to “stay away from windows and take cover behind or under solid furniture” and to await further instructions.

The United Kingdom did not participate in the attacks on Iran in which Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed. However, on Sunday British combat aircraft shot down an Iranian drone that was heading toward Qatar.
