The Higher Public Prosecutor's Office (VJT) has issued a summons for hearing of Dean Sinani and staff members

“Novosti” remind that due to these lapses, last night at around 22:40, a female student died after jumping from the fifth floor onto the plateau in front of the faculty, following a fire caused by pyrotechnic devices.

It is still unknown when the hearings will take place and in what capacity, but it is clear that the public has demanded since last night that any criminal responsibility of those involved be determined, as well as who even allowed pyrotechnics to be kept in the faculty building.

The dean and administration of the Faculty of Philosophy will have to answer these and many other questions regarding students staying in the building outside working hours, the deceased student’s health condition prior to the tragedy, and safety protocols—at a faculty that has apparently been in chaos and anarchy for a year.

Earlier today, the Chief Public Prosecutor of the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade, Nenad Stefanović, stated that the prosecutor’s office will, among other things, examine whether the faculty administration staff bear criminal responsibility regarding the safety of work and studying.

After that, the VJT in Belgrade announced that the Special Department for Combating Corruption of the prosecutor’s office, under Article 282, paragraph 4 of the Criminal Procedure Code, ordered an investigation into all the circumstances and conditions under which, on 26 March 2026, at around 22:40 in the Faculty of Philosophy building, multiple spray cans and firecrackers ignited on the fifth floor, after which a female person jumped out of the window onto the plateau in front of the faculty and lost her life.
