Ministry of Justice publishes full list of all 49 people granted pardons
Ministry of Justice of the Government of Republic of Serbia announced that it had forwarded President of the Republic of Serbia's decisions granting pardons to 49 individuals to the competent courts, acting in accordance with the law and established procedures
In a statement published on Instagram, the Ministry of Justice stressed that it could not publish the list of pardoned individuals before it had been officially submitted to the competent courts.
The ministry explained that institutional responsibility requires judicial authorities to be formally notified in advance of decisions concerning cases under their jurisdiction.
Only after the documentation had been delivered to the relevant institutions were the conditions met for the Ministry of Justice to publish the list.
The ministry stated that the order in which it took action was determined by the need to ensure that judicial authorities were properly notified first and that the law was respected. It added that the power to grant pardons is an explicit constitutional authority of the President of the Republic of Serbia, stipulated in Article 112, Paragraph 1, Point 7 of the Serbian Constitution.
"The exercise of this constitutional power does not constitute interference in the work of the judiciary, nor does it, in itself, amount to an abuse of office. Any interpretation to the contrary would call into question the very purpose of the institution of pardon, which exists precisely as an exception to the regular course of criminal proceedings," the statement emphasised.
According to the attached list, those granted pardons are: Dijana Hrkalović, Dragana Živadinović, Nebojša Đokić, Miodrag Selaković, Marko Pavlović, Radoš Kadijević, Slobodan Pećinar, Željko Milivojević, Gorski Matović, Igor Elez, Nemanja Narači, Ognjen Stanković, Stevica Kiš, Aleksandar Kocić, Lazar Dinić, Marija Vasić, Lado Jovović, Mladen Cvijetić, Srđan Đurić, Davor Stefanović, Mila Pajić, Branislav Đorđević, Doroteja Antić, Dejan Bagarić, Jovan Dražić, Anja Pitulić, Nikola Božić and Boban Džunić.
