The city of Koper warns that the situation on the ground is dangerous and is getting worse by the hour. Precipitation continued between Slovenian Istria and the interior of the country, and in some places more than 150 millimeters of rain fell, according to Meteoinfo Slovenia.

Incredibly strong wind and showers caused damage to the roads, and in front of the Decani tunnel, on the road from Črni Kal to the highway, a landslide started. As 24ur writes, due to floods and stormy weather, several roads are closed or difficult for traffic.

The road to Ospa is flooded by a stream, traffic near MP Škofija is difficult, shafts on the road in Pobegi are open, and the regional road in Cepki is completely closed. Storms are currently disrupting traffic in many parts of Slovenia.

All available teams are on the ground in Koper, and citizens are asked to be extremely careful because water is accumulating on the roadways. The municipality of Koper appeals to residents along the Badasevica and Rižana rivers to stay in their homes until the situation calms down.

By 10 a.m., firefighters had 70 interventions due to the storm. Although lives are not currently in danger, citizens are urged to strictly follow the instructions of the competent services, remove vehicles from low-lying areas and use the free garages available to them. Due to the consequences of the storm, the Divača-Koper railway was also closed, while Slovenian Railways organized alternative transportation for passengers.

Orange warning

The Slovenian Environmental Protection Agency earlier issued an orange warning for storms and heavy rainfall for the northwestern, southwestern and central parts of the country, while in the afternoon a yellow warning was issued for the southeastern and northeastern parts of Slovenia.

In Croatia, the highest level of warning has also been issued for the area of the northern and central Adriatic - the Rijeka, Knin and Split regions - due to the expected thunderstorm during the afternoon and evening. Meteo services warn of possible strong and stormy winds, heavy rainfall and the risk of torrential and urban flooding.
