Vučić with Pellegrini ahead of UNESCO General Conference session: "Serbia and Slovakia are friendly countries"
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, met today with the President of Slovakia, Peter Pellegrini, in Samarkand, ahead of the start of the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference.
“A friendly and substantive discussion with President Peter Pellegrini in Samarkand. On topics such as new technologies, education, and cultural heritage, which dominate this year’s UNESCO General Conference, we exchanged views on further strengthening the overall bilateral relations between Serbia and Slovakia, with a special focus on cooperation in energy, economic development, and joint contributions to regional stability and prosperity. We also discussed the situation of the Slovak minority in Serbia and its contribution to the relations between our two countries.
I am particularly grateful to Slovakia for its principled and continuous support of our territorial integrity and European path. I emphasized the importance of mutual trust and cooperation in addressing contemporary challenges, both regionally and globally, as well as the need to contribute to a better life for citizens of both countries through joint initiatives.
Serbia and Slovakia are friendly countries, united by sincere understanding and a shared vision of peace, progress, and stability in Europe. I am confident that today’s conversation will further strengthen this partnership and open new opportunities for future projects of mutual interest. I also took this opportunity to invite President Pellegrini to visit Serbia, which he accepted,” Vučić wrote on Instagram.
Later, Vučić will attend the opening session of the UNESCO General Conference — the United Nations Organization for Education, Science, and Culture.
The delegation accompanying President Vučić includes Minister of Culture Nikola Selaković.
At the airport in Samarkand, Vučić was welcomed by the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Aripov, the Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Ochilbay Ramatov, and the Mayor of Samarkand, Adiz Bobojev.
