In his congratulatory message, he said that the Serbian Army not only defends the borders, but also the dignity, tradition and value of a nation, and reminded that in the past period, the Republic of Serbia has invested enormous resources and effort in equipping the Army.

"I congratulate all members of the Serbian Armed Forces on April 23 - the Day of the Serbian Armed Forces and its 210th anniversary. On this day, we remember the year 1815 when the Second Serbian Uprising took place as a key moment in the creation of the modern Serbian state. That historical act, guided by faith in freedom, is of special importance in national history and represents a lasting source and inspiration for both the Serbian people and our army," the president said in his congratulatory message.

The Serbian Army is the custodian of the glorious tradition of the Serbian people, the embodiment of courage, honor and determination in the fight for freedom, he said and added that today, as throughout the centuries, we proudly remember all those who laid down their lives for their homeland, announced the Office for Media Relations Service of the President of the Republic.

"In modern conditions, the Serbian Armed Forces are continuously developing their capacities, strengthening their capabilities and improving combat readiness. In the past period, the Republic of Serbia has invested enormous resources and effort in equipping the Armed Forces. In addition to modernizing equipment and weapons, we place a special emphasis on investing in human resources through better living and working conditions, increasing wages and salaries, investing in housing, professional development, as well as incentives for young people who want to join the ranks of the Serbian Armed Forces," said Vučić.

Improvement of the training system, civil-military cooperation, as well as active participation in peacekeeping operations and joint exercises, contribute to greater international reputation and operational readiness, he added.

"Our common duty is to preserve peace, but also to be constantly ready to protect the people and the state. The Serbian Army does not only defend borders, it defends the dignity, tradition and value of a nation," he said.

Vučić thanked the members of the Serbian Armed Forces for serving their homeland honorably and responsibly.

"May this significant day be an incentive for further success and progress. I am convinced that, based on our tradition, and turned towards modernization and knowledge, we will continue to strengthen the Serbian Armed Forces in the interest of future generations. Long live the Serbian Army! Long live Serbia," President Vučić concluded.
