Croatia ends blockade of border, Serbia lifts countermeasure

The Croatian Interior Ministry confirmed the news, saying that all vehicles "regardless of license plates" and all trucks can enter Croatia starting from 17:00 CET on Friday.

Last weekend, Croatia banned trucks coming from Serbia from entering its territory, while on Thursday Serbia responded by blocking entry of all goods manufactured in Croatia. Croatia then banned cars with Serbian number plates from crossing its border.

Earlier in the day, the Croatian government announced Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic was "intensively discussing" the possibility of lifting the blockade.

The announcement came after the European Commission asked Croatia for "an urgent explanation" of its decision to prevent cargo traffic coming from the Serbian territory.

The Serbian government met in Belgrade late on Friday and decided to abolish its countermeasures against Croatia.
