Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic started his two-day visit to Belarus on Thursday by a meeting with the country's Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov.

Vucic said that the two countries "have the potential to increase trade, which by 2019 should amount to USD 500 million, and stressed that Serbia is open to cooperation with Belarus in all areas, especially in construction, health care, automotive and defense industries."

"We should work to attract more tourists from Belarus to Serbia, as well as to promote the Belarus tourist offer on the Serbian market," the prime minister said, stressed also "the importance of twinning cities and municipalities of Serbia and Belarus, pointing out that it is time to establish closer relations between people who will discover new ways of cooperation in the future."

The prime minister "stressed that it is necessary to continue frequent talks at the highest level," and invited his Belarus counterpart to visit Serbia.

The delegation led by Vucic includes Serbia's defense and economy ministers and the mayors of Smederevo, Valjevo, and Sremska Mitrovica, who will on Thursday signed twinning agreements.

Andrei Kobyakov described Serbia is a key economic factor for Belarus in the Balkans.

The head of the Belarus government stressed that his country is "focused on long-term cooperation with Serbia, and welcomed the decision to sign the roadmap for cooperation between the two countries, which will enable the creation of the best conditions for economic cooperation."

Kobyakov "stressed the importance of setting up joint ventures in construction, utility and automotive industries, and welcomed the work of nine Serbian companies successfully operating in Belarus, as well as cooperation of chambers of commerce of the two countries," the Serbian government said.

The two prime ministers today also attended the signing of a number of inter-state agreements.

Vucic and his delegation arrived in Minsk late on Wednesday, when they were welcomed by Belarus Minister for Anti-Monopoly Regulation and Trade Vladimir Koltovich.
