Gold-winning women’s basketball team welcomed home
Several thousand people gathered in front of the Belgrade City Assembly late on Monday to welcome the arrival of Serbia’s women’s national basketball team.

Enthusiastic supporters chanted "champions, champions" when the “golden girls” wrapped in Serbian flags entered the City Assembly balcony carrying the trophy, Tanjug reported.
"Good evening, my beautiful Serbia. I only have one wish, and that is to meet with you at this place again as soon as possible,” head coach Marina Maljkovic said from the balcony.
The gathering was also addressed by EuroBasket Women 2015 MVP Ana Dabovic, and accoroding to Tanjug, "the American post player with Serbian passport, Danielle Page, had only one thing to say: 'I love you, Serbia!'."
Serbia beat France 76-68 in the final of the 2015 European Women Basketball Championship in Budapest on Sunday, the biggest success in the history of Serbia’s women basketball.
The title of European champions secured Serbia a place in the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics.
