Orban welcomes moves to impose cap on number of migrants

Austria's government this week announced it will accept no more than 37,500 asylum requests this year, and a total of 127,500 by mid-2019 - and that this number must not be greater than 1.5 percent of the country's population.

"Europe cannot take in enormous masses of foreigners without constraints and controls," commented Orban.

He also reiterated his support for the Polish government, saying it "did nothing the European Union should be critical of," and remarking, “Brussels is irritated by the existence of strong nation-states."
