There are indications that late Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic’s widow Mirjana Markovic will return to Serbia this year, daily Kurir writes. According to the daily, fugitive businessman and Movement Strength of Serbia party leader Bogoljub Karic could also return to the country soon. Milosevic’s widow, tycoon to return to Serbia, daily says His party is a part of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS)-led coalition. Analysts told Kurir that a favorable political climate has been created in Serbia that will allow Markovic to return. The daily writes that former SNS leader and newly elected Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic said in the campaign that he would enable his coalition partner Karic to come to Serbia and testify in court after the elections. Political analyst Dejan Vuk Stankovic believes that Markovic’s return is not impossible. “Various things have happened already. But who knows? Anyway, who cares about them? I have not noticed any special enthusiasm among the Progressives or (Socialist Party of Serbia leader Ivica) Dacic but I would not be surprised if it happened, just like all moral shocks we have been through,” he pointed out. An arrest warrant for Milosevic’s widow has been revoked due to obsolescence. Their son Marko could also return from Moscow because a court proceeding against him has been suspended. “The Serbian president does not intend to interfere with the court jurisdiction but he will use his authority to make sure that the proceedings are conducted in accordance with the law, which we have not had an opportunity so see very often in the last several years,” the president’s cabinet said in a statement. Movement Strength of Serbia deputy leader Dragomir Karic has said that his brother is not coming back to Serbia “due to business obligations abroad”.
