A member of the Serbian Renewal Movement (SPO) Executive Committee has called on party leader Vuk Draskovic to step down. Djordjo Prstojevic, who also serves as assistant to the Minister of Religion and Diaspora, said on Monday the party "will disappear from the political scene unless Draskovic resigns, and it returns to its original state-building program." New call for SPO leader to step down He said in a statement for the media that a declaration, dubbed "the Return", is being prepared, which should represents a return to the SPO program and an invitation to all those who left the party in the last 20 years to come back. “Making a decision on his own for the SPO to join 'the U-Turn' declaration by public abandonment of Kosovo and Metohija and conflicts with all party members who do not share his opinion, Draskovic privatized the party and brought it to a hopeless situation which can only be resolved by his withdrawal,” Prstojevic said. Draskovic's resignation was so far requested by SPO members from Bor and Negotin, as well as various Belgrade committees. Some party officials who supported the idea were expelled from the SPO.
