At 4 p.m., the decision of the Crisis Staff expected: Will there be new restrictions?

Virologist Milanko Sekler told RTS that he hopes that this time the decision of the medical part of the Crisis Staff will prevail, as well as that it would be time for something that they propose to be adopted.

He said that he "spent all his smart advice" and warned that, if the measures are not respected, there will be more than 5,.000 newly infected people on a daily basis in January.

Immunologist and member of the Crisis Staff Srdja Jankovic said earlier that the medical part of the Crisis Staff could not agree with the organized New Year's Eve, and that he did not give up on the requirement that the COVID pass be valid 24 hours a day.

He emphasized that the thesis that, because the omicron strain is so mild, we should all be infected is meaningless, because we run the risk of infecting those who are at increased risk. Epidemiologist and member of the Crisis Staff Predrag Kon pointed out for RTS that he does not expect dramatic changes at the session of the Crisis Staff.

"I really do not expect dramatic changes. What I expect in this situation is that the measures in force are respected. Concerts in the squares, which are planned, cannot be supported by any epidemiologist or doctor from the Crisis Staff. It is clear that the pressure is great, it is considered that it should be allowed, I cannot anticipate the final outcome", Kon concluded.
