Kon: "Nothing can stop the virus"

"We will have a little more than a thousand infected people this week, next week maybe less than a thousand. However, now we have a moment when our people come from Western Europe and it is possible that a number of people with the virus will enter, it is possible that there will be and omicron strain", Kon said.

"Nothing can stop the virus. We can try to slow it down, it would be good if it wasn't there before the New Year's holidays," said Dr Kon about the omicron strain.

"The impression is that it is twice as portable as delta strain, which is very inconvenient and dangerous," said Kon.

"It will not be like the flu, but it will have a similar behavior, that is, it will cause a similar symptoms. It is certain, it is already noticeable," said Dr Kon. After two years of fighting the coronavirus and experience with vaccines, Dr Kon says that since the outbreak of the epidemic, they did not expect the effectiveness of the vaccine to the extent that it was effective when it appeared.

"At the beginning, we expected a far less effective vaccine. So, we are very satisfied. The presence of antibodies is fantastic, and the effectiveness was above 50 percent, which is extraordinary. However, the effectiveness has started to decline," he said.

"Young people don't listen at all"

As he said, after the introduction of COVID passes, a larger number of young people who were vaccinated were noticed. However, that changed as soon as the numbers started to decrease, which is wrong, claims Dr Kon.

"We are not using a favorable moment for vaccination. Because just when the number of infected people falls, then vaccination should be increased," he said. "Young people do not listen to such information at all, they are a little selfish. And older people depend on them," he added. "The consequences are already great. We have the fact that there are many more deaths than we have in the records. In 2020 alone, we had 2.300 deaths that were related to COVID, and that is a serious number," he explained. Kon said that we will see how many post-complications we'll have.

"I am very satisfied, we have been living in an anti-vaccination environment for two decades, so these results are very good. It should be emphasized. The virus changes to cause a milder disease and that is good. It is going as expected, the disease is getting milder and I am really optimistic about next year", concluded Dr Kon.
