Beta cited a Serbian government press release to report that the agreement "paved the way for public administration to pool basic data on citizens in one place electronically in order to speed up decisions to their requests."

Documents like birth certificates or certificates of citizenship will not have to be taken out, it was explained, civil servants will be obliged to provide them.

Earlier, the Ministry of State Administration and Local Government began the electronic transcription of all birth records kept by local governments, and these data will be in the Central Register of Records of Births, which is under the authority of the Ministry, by the end of the year, the press release said.
