SEIO Director Tanja Miscevic is to step down, writes Belgrade daily Danas, quoting sources close to the government. Danas writes that the chances are that Deputy Foreign Minister Milica Delevic-Djilas will take over as the new head of the Serbian European Integration Office (SEIO). Reshuffle looms at SEIO The daily writes that the only obstacle to Delevic Djilas’s appointment as SEIO director is Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic’s eagerness to keep her at the Foreign Ministry. Delevic Djilas led the Serbia and Montenegro EU Integration Office for one year, before resigning in 2004. One of the daily’s sources says that Miscevic has decided to leave the position because she needs a break. Sources say that she also wants to focus more on her work at the Political Science Faculty and the Official Gazette, where she recently took over as editor . A different source says that the more likely reason is that the government has devoted little time to the work of the SEIO lately. The source says that Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic, who is in charge of European integration, was focusing more on the members of his cabinet when it came to European integration. The same source also points out that one of the conditions of Serbia’s EU integration is construction of the state’s administrative capacities.
