MOSCOW Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the launch of large-scale military exercises in the Black Sea region on Thursday morning. The move may create tensions with Russia's post-Soviet neighbors Ukraine and Georgia, Reuters has reported. Putin orders surprise military exercises in Black Sea Putin’s Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that the president had issued the order at 4:00 Moscow time as he flew back from the BRICS summit in South Africa. Thousands of troops, 36 warships and an unspecified number of warplanes will take part in the exercises.
