Borislav Stefanovic campaigned in the northern province of Vojvodina over the weekend in his role as a member of the ruling Democratic Party (DS) presidency. Stefanovic, known to the public mostly as Belgrade's chief negotiator in the EU-sponsored Kosovo dialogue, spoke in the town of Kikinda, and focused on the opposition Progressives (SNS) - the Democrats' main rival in the upcoming elections, and according to the polls, the country's most popular party. Stefanovic attacks SNS as "party without ideology" The May 6 elections "sill pose before the citizens a dilemma about whether to vote for the people that had already shown results and knew how to work or for those who had no direction to go nor a real ideology or attitude", asserted he. Addressing the participants of a panel discussion organized by the DS youth organization as part of the campaign which is "presenting Boris Tadic, the party's leader, as the best option for a better life of the young people", Stefanovic offered his own answer to the dilemma by expressing the view that the leaders of the Serb Progressive Party (SNS) "had no firm stand on anything, no road-map, nor a plan about where Serbia's should go if they assumed power". On the other hand, said he, "we have Boris Tadic and the DS who managed to secure significant investment even in the times of economic crisis". “We have shown results, the best there could have been in the given situation, while they (the SNS) have been standing aside saying - we might move a little to the left, little to the right, a little forward, a little back,” Stefanovic said. Asked whether the opposition had been offering any propositions regarding the Kosovo issue during the dialog with Pristina, Stefanovic said he was "not aware of any" - except that they "would never recognize Kosovo". Stefanovic also believes that the SNS is "a synonym for avoiding responsibility, a party without an ideology or attitude". Borislav Stefanovic (Beta, file) Tanjug
