State Secretary in the Ministry for Kosovo Oliver Ivanovic has denied allegations regarding secret negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina. “Talks between Belgrade and Pristina will begin with mediation of the international community and it’s very important that those are the EU and UN,” he said. “No secret negotiations with Pristina” Ivanovic called upon Serbs in the province who take part in Serbian and Kosovo Albanian institutions to engage dialogue. “The dialogue is necessary and it’s in the interest of the Serbs who live in Kosovo. It is necessary so authorities in Belgrade would have right information about the problems of the Serbs in Kosovo. Without such information they won’t have a real concept of the talks that will follow – about the status and technical issues,” he said and added that “a unified position of Serbs is necessary”. “This position is very hard to achieve in these conditions, but it’s important that Serbs from Kosovo, from all political options, are in one room,” Ivanovic explained. The state secretary assessed that “animosities of individuals or groups in Kosovo toward the Serbian government could cause big damage in moments like these”. He also pointed out that the government’s policy not to have official contacts with Kosovo institutions or those who took part in them wont' prevent it from having informal talks, "which is in everybody’s interest”.
