Kosovo police, KPS, prevented Belgrade Mayor Dragan Djilas and presidential adviser Mladjan Djordjevic from entering the province this Monday. The two officials were headed for Kosovska Kamenica, and were stopped at the Konculj checkpoint on the administrative line between Kosovo and central Serbia. Belgrade mayor, Tadic adviser stopped at crossing The KPS members told Djilas and Djordjevic that procedures for entry into Kosovo were not observed. The pair organized an impromptu news conference at the site to tell reporters that UN Security Council, UNMIK and EULEX will all hear about today's incident, and that these international institutions will be asked to explain the KPS move. "We se this as yet another in a series of incidents that the Albanians side is trying to use to provoke a situation where we cannot talk to our people," said Djordjevic. He added that EULEX representatives at Konculj said they had no jurisdiction and were there to monitor the situation. Djilas described the incident as "great shame for all those who are preventing Serbian citizens to cross to that part of Serbia". "All this is a meaningless political story that is worsening the position of the Serb people in Kosovo and Metohija," said the Belgrade mayor. Djilas and Djordjevic were planning to visit a health center in Kosovska Kamenica that was recently destroyed in a fire, and meet with local officials in order to discuss ways to repair the damage, and create conditions for the Serbs from this area to have access to normal quality of healthcare as soon as possible.
