Vojislav Kostunica says it is “good that the EU has refrained from sending its mission illegally.” The prime minister said that Serbia’s arguments against the arrival of an EU mission in Kosovo had been “irrefutable.” Kostunica applauds EU decision to refrain from mission “The matter of the EU mission was taken off the agenda in the middle of last year, when the UN Security Council rejected the six proposed resolutions that would have approved the arrival of a mission to implement the Ahtisaari plan,” Kostunica said in his statement. The prime minister said that it was important for Serbia that the EU had respected international law and the initialing of the Stabilization and Association Agreement with Serbia, because Serbia had embarked on European integration believing that the basic values which the EU was founded on would be respected. “The EU’s decision to refrain from sending a mission on January 28 to create a bogus country is good, and an important step in the right direction. Serbia will always be a good and reliable partner in respecting international law, and will never allow an EU mission to create a bogus state on its territory,” Kostunica affirmed.
