Kosovo police, KPS, spokesman Arber Beka said last night its members arrested a Serb "suspected of having committed war crimes in Kosovo". KPS arrest "Serb war crimes suspect" The spokesman specified that the suspect was born in 1973 and that EULEX prosecution and special prosecutions in Pristina and Prizren were "informed" about the arrest. According to this, the suspect has been remanded in custody for 48 hours. Beka could not say what war crime he is suspected of committing. Previously, the spokesman stated that “police first received a report that a 32 year-old man had committed the criminal act of making threats, and some witnesses later recognized him as a perpetrator of war crimes in Kosovo." The man was arrested on Tuesday at about 18:00 CET. According to earlier reports, Beka said that the arrest was "coordinated with the district public prosecutor in Pristina, the Kosovo war crimes prosecution and the EULEX prosecutor". “Goran never wore uniform” Dusan Vuckovic, the brother of the arrested Serb, said that his brother Goran never wore a uniform during the war in Kosovo. He believes that the arrest was set up by his neighbors in Gornje Selo, where Goran came with his family to visit his parents several days ago. In a statement given to KiM Radio, Dusan Vuckovic said that a couple hours after an altercation with the neighbors, about a dozen KPS members entered the home and took away Goran, stating that they would question and release him in an hour. “No one brought him back. I called the police, and they promised that he would return by midnight, or by five in the morning at the latest. That did not happen, however,” the suspect's brother said. Indignation Ministry for Kosovo State Secretary Oliver Ivanovic today said that the arrest of the Serb man in Prizren is worrisome and could cause indignation. "How is it possible that Serbs are being arrested for war crimes accusations of come sort, while no one has been arrested for a single crime committed against Serbs," Ivanovic wondered. “No one has been arrested for the murder of two children in Gorazdevac and other crimes committed against Serbs from 1998 until today, and during the time that KFOR and UNMIK arrived in Kosovo,” Ivanovic continued. He also said that EULEX should explain how evidence is found so quickly for arresting a Serb, while there is no evidence to arrests perpetrators of any crime committed thus far against Serbs.
