U.S. embassy hosts Independence Day reception

BELGRADE U.S. Ambassador in Belgrade Michael Kirby on Tuesday hosted a reception in celebration of American national holiday Independence Day. "May the ties between the U.S. and Serbia continue to grow, expand and strengthen," Kirby told the nearly 3,000 guests.

Among them were Serbia's top officials - President Tomislav Nikolić, his adviser Marko Đurić, Prime Minister Ivica Dačić, Parliament Speaker Nebojša Stefanović, members of the government and parliament.

U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Philip Reeker was also in attendance.
