Law on Judges provision ruled unconstitutional
The Constitutional Court of Serbia on Thursday in Belgrade ruled that an article in the Law on Judges was unconstitutional.

BELGRADE The Constitutional Court of Serbia on Thursday in Belgrade ruled that an article in the Law on Judges was unconstitutional. Nata Mesarovic was appointed president of the Supreme Court of Cassation based on this article. Law on Judges provision ruled unconstitutional The ruling today effectively started the procedure for her dismissal, in which the Serbian parliament will have the final say. The motion for the Court to give its opinion on the article in question came from the ruling Serb Progressive Party (SNS). Mesarovic is also the president of the High Judicial Council, the country's top judicial body, whose decision to not reappoint a number of judges and prosecutors in December 2009 was overturned by the Constitutional Court last summer.
