Japan to abolish visas for Serbians

Interior Minister Ivica Dacic met on Thurday with Japanese Deputy FM Hishahi Tokunaga and announced that Japan will abolish visas for Serbians in 2011. Dacic, who is on a five-day visit to Japan, said that during the meeting, Tokunaga underlined that Japan has a positive stance towards the development of political relations between the two countries, as well as towards Serbia’s EU aspirations, the Serbian government's website reported. Japan to abolish visas for Serbians Dacic also "observed that foreign trade between Serbia and Japan is not at a high level, although Japan has been one of Serbia’s largest donors for years". He declared that a series of yen loans may be approved within the period ahead which will mainly be used in the energy sector, primarily for the Obrenovac thermal power plant. Dacic also met with Parliament Speaker Takahiro Yokomichi and President of the Parliamentary League of Friendship Japan–Serbia Ichiro Aisawa. Over the next few days Dacic will visit a centre for emergency situations and a transport administration center in Tokyo, as well as Osaka and Kyoto and talk with Serbian residents there.
