Islamic sharia law will prevail in liberated Libya and any existing laws that contradict it will be abolished, Mustafa Abdel Jalil said on Monday. “As an Islamic country, we have adopted sharia as the principal law,” the leader of the National Transitional Council leader said at a ceremony in the eastern city of Benghazi, RIA Novosti is reporting. Under deposed leader Moammer Gaddafi, who was killed on Thursday in unclear circumstances, polygamy was banned. “As an example is the law on divorce and marriage...
