A state of emergency has been declared in parts of the Jamaican capital Kingston after attacks on police stations. The violence has been carried out by supporters of an alleged drug baron who faces extradition to the U.S. State of emergency in Jamaican capital Gunmen shot at two police stations and set fire to another. At least one policeman was injured. In one area of Kingston streets were barricaded where Christopher “Dudus” Coke is thought to be hiding. He is wanted in the States on cocaine trafficking and gun-running charges. Jamaica is a popular tourist destination. The US State Department has warned travelers about possible violence in the capital. Last week saw demonstrations after the Prime Minister said he was dropping his opposition to Coke’s extradition and began legal proceedings.
